Everyone loves Paneer/ cottage cheese and we can make paneer with different types of gravies like makhni gravy, spinach gravy etc. Today I am sharing delicious entrée recipe with new gravy –Methi Paneer ( Paneer in Fenugreek Gravy). In this entrée I used dried fenugreek leaves/ Kasuri Methi for gravy. Hope you enjoy this.

Ingredients:-

Paneer – 200 grams.
Dried fenugreek leaves – 3 tbsp
Diced onion – 1
Chopped tomato – 2
Green chilies – 2
Chopped garlic cloves – 3-4

Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
Coriander powder – ½ tsp
Garam masala – ¼ tsp
Cashews – 4-5
Warm milk – ¼ cup
Salt as per taste
Oil – 3 tbsp + 2 tbsp
Unsalted butter – 1 tsp
Lemon juice – 2 tbsp
Water – ¼ cup

Directions:-

1) Cut paneer in cubes and set aside.
2) Soak cashews in warm milk for 10 mins and after 10 mins blend this mixture into smooth paste and set aside.
3) Heat 2 tbsp oil in pan and shallow fry until golden in color.
4) In heavy bottom pan heat 3 tbsp oil and add garlic in stir for 30 sec.
5) Now add onion and let it cook until onion become translucent.
6) Now add green chili and all above mentioned dry spices, salt and Kasuri methi .
7) Mix well and let the mixture cook until oil ooze out.
8) Now add chopped tomatoes. Cover the pan with lid and let it cook for another 5-7 mins.
9) Let the mixture cool down for 10 mins.
10) Using enough water blend the mixture into smooth paste.
11) Heat butter in pan and add blended paste and mix well and let it cook again for 2-3 min.
12) Now add cashew- milk paste and stir well. Add water if needed.
13) Add lemon juice and let the gravy cook for 3-4 mins.
14) Now add fried paneer cubes and mix well in gravy.
15) Let it cook for 2-3 mins.
16) Serve hot with Paratha or Naan.

My Notes:-

1) You can also use green fenugreek leaves for gravy.
2) You can use heavy cream in place of cashew – milk paste.
